Eden Erryn Hunt
About Me
Artist Statement
My work explores themes of religion and femininity and biology, aiming to critique gender roles and spiritual narratives in traditional Christian religious themes. I sculpt and paint to reflect on ideas of identity, spirituality, and the body. Through my artistic processes of sketching, painting, and sculpting I explore how belief systems and cultural narratives shape our understanding of self and the world. I aim to mix an appreciation for historical religious symbolism with more modern spirituality and examine their interactions with gender and society.
I pull from religious texts, mythologies, and scientific studies to challenge the typical religious understanding of the world. I emphasize color, texture, and form using stylization and patterns to create unity between my works. This forms a narrative that considers how tradition, and modern changes shift viewpoints on spirituality.
